Anthony von Mandl
Born in Vancouver to European parents, Anthony returned to Europe with his family when he was nine years old. From an early age, his parents fostered in him a love of art, music, cuisine and learning.
He returned to Canada where he graduated in Economics from the University of British Columbia, but he soon realized that wine and food were his real passion. That led to a European apprenticeship in the wine trade, which in turn, brought him home to Canada as an importer and merchant of fine wines.
When the time came to invest in a winery, he could have opted to build in Napa or Washington State. Instead, he put down roots in his native British Columbia, in the largely unknown Okanagan Valley wine appellation. He was absolutely convinced that given time and patience, his beloved valley could produce sophisticated wines for an international audience. With his family by his side, he set out to make his dream come true.
He helped to pioneer the making of fine wines in a valley where grapes were first planted in the 1860s. Determination and an unshakable commitment to quality led to international acclaim, validating his belief and giving him the confidence to undertake unprecedented investments in grape growing and winemaking.
Anthony has never wavered in his commitment to the valley. His aim is to build a destination that will stand the test of time. His family’s driving philosophy, to be considered among the very best in the world, guides everyone associated with the winery.
